August BYOS
Join us for the August BYOS where our friends at the Honest Weight Food Co-op are celebrating 50 years of food, farmers, and friends. Bring a blank shirt for us to print this amazing graphic on, designed by local artist Jeffrey Wright-Sedam ! And come with an appetite - Honest Weight will be bringing some snacks!
Shop Orientation
Are you interested in using the Circus shop to print your next project? We’re now offering a monthly shop orientation session. Anyone interested in a membership or project pass must attend an orientation session before they can use the equipment. This is also a great opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have about the shop!

Black August Block Party
Join in the annual Black August Block Party from 3pm-6pm on Sunday, August 23, hosted by the Party for Socialism and Liberation and held at the Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence, 194 Livingston Avenue, Albany.

Black August is honored every year to commemorate the fallen freedom fighters of the Black Liberation Movement, to call for the release of political prisoners, and to emphasize the continued importance of the Black Liberation struggle.

Arts in the City
Arts in the City is back with another FREE, family-friendly creative experience and this time, we’re putting Albany on a T-shirt! 👕🎨
Join us Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 PM at Circus & Tulip City Creative for Print Albany, a hands-on T-shirt printing experience with Circus, a community print shop located right in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood. Circus & Tulip City Creative is opening its doors for an evening of creativity, giving you a chance to get hands-on with the screen-printing process and see how art goes from an idea to something you can actually wear.
Bring your own shirt and print a design featuring artwork by Albany artist Delphi (@delphnation). No experience needed, just BYOS: Bring Your Own (blank) Shirt! We’ll bring the ink, the screens and everything you need to leave with your own wearable piece of Albany art. This event is free to attend and suitable for all ages!

The Librarians Documentary Screening and Discussion @ The New York State Museum
From Oscar-nominated Director and Producer Kim A. Snyder ("Death By Numbers," “Newtown,” “Us Kids”) and Executive Producer Sarah Jessica Parker, “The Librarians” takes viewers from Texas to Florida and beyond, where local libraries have become unexpected battlegrounds in a national struggle over parental control, intellectual freedom, and democracy itself. Sparked by the controversial “Krause List” in Texas, which targets 850 books centered on race and LGBTQIA+ stories, the film takes a deep investigative dive into the escalating movement against book banning. The film captures the courage and resilience of the everyday heroes, librarians, as well as concerned parents and students flanking them, who have become first responders in the fight for the freedom to read, standing defiantly against censorship at all costs.
This event will begin with a screening of the film in the Huxley Theater, followed by a panel discussion with State Librarian Lauren Moore, New York Public Library Senior Director of Reading and Engagement and author Brian Jones, Past-President of the American Library Association Emily Drabinski, American Libraries columnist and Library Freedom Project member Reanna Esmail, and Amanda Hoffman, a former library assistant who fought for their community through the turmoil surrounding a Drag Queen Story Hour. They will discuss the challenges libraries face today, their personal experiences in the battle against censorship, and their suggestions for what libraries and their supporters can do in the continuing struggle for intellectual freedom.
The discussion will be moderated by James Paleologopoulos, Producer for WAMC/Northeast Public Radio’s On the Road, and will be recorded for later broadcast.

It’s an anniversary; let’s celebrate together!
First Friday: Exquisite Prints
For November’s First Friday, Circus invites the community to dive into the creative process behind screen printing, literally.
Participants will collaborate on a large, shared Exquisite Corpse–style design, where each person draws a section (top, middle, or bottom) directly on a screen using drawing fluid.
Circus will finish the process and participants can return later in the week to pick up a limited-edition print made from the collaboratively created screen!
Think of it as:
“Community meets creativity meets chaos in the best way possible.”
No experience necessary, just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to make something unexpected.

Bring Your Own Shirt (October)
Save the date! It’s time for another edition of BYOS! Come by on Sunday September 28th from Noon until 3pm and we’ll have an image on hand that we’ll screen print on any piece of fabric you bring. Shirts, totes, flags, whatever.
